Springtime in Paris was a great way to end the 2013 Women's Weekday League. Over 170 ladies and pros attended the celebration at Canyon Gate Country Club! Kelley Morgan from When Pigs Fly Events and her USTA crew, Mary Maragos, Maureen Caruso, Janay Oakland and the USTA interns transformed Canyon Gate's ballroom into another place and time. As soon as you arrived at the event you were whisked along the streets of Paris to a small cafe where you could take pictures with Andre Agassi's US Open Trophy and the Brian Brothers 2012 Olympic gold medal. As you continued into the reception area you could bid on numerous silent auction items at the Paris Flea Market that were donated by many local businesses. For the brave of hear, you could learn the fate of your future from the fortune teller.
After everyone had a chance to mix and mingle, the doors opened to the grand ballroom where tables were set with beautiful bouquets of flower, vintage umbrellas and a small gift bag personally made by Kelley. Canyon Gate provided a delicious buffet lunch which was followed by a fashion show courtesy of Janice Wilson and Eccoci in Boca Park. Eccoci's latest fashions were modeled by different ladies on the weekday tennis teams. It was great to see the ladies strutting their stuff. It was definitely an event to be remembered.

USTA AND ESPN ANNOUNCE COMPREHENSIVE TELEVISION AND DIGITAL MEDIA PARTNERSHIP FOR US OPEN AND EMIRATES AIRLINE US OPEN SERIES
Eleven-Year Exclusive Deal to Begin in 2015 Provides More Than 200 Hours of Summer Tennis Television Coverage
Additional Programming Will Cross all of ESPN’s Platforms
White Plains, N.Y., May 16, 2013 ? The USTA today announced that it has entered into a comprehensive media partnership with ESPN for the television and digital presentation of the US Open and the Emirates Airline US Open Series. The 11-year agreement will begin in 2015 and extend through the 2025 US Open and provide professional tennis with more than 200 hours of live coverage each summer. Current domestic television agreements for the US Open conclude following the 2014 US Open.
ESPN will become the exclusive domestic television and digital media partner for the US Open and the Emirates Airline US Open Series, and will have the right to sub-license coverage with agreement from the USTA. In addition, ESPN will continue to televise the US Open in Latin America and Canada. The comprehensive deal includes rights for all ESPN platforms including cable television, digital distribution and live-streaming of US Open matches.

The 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men’s At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.
The Academic All-District ® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded
teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2012-13 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Have you ever met an 81-year old competitive tennis player? Here's one for the books. Within the past eight months she has won gold medals in three senior tournaments: Washington State Senior Games, Nevada Senior Games and Utah's Huntsman's World Senior Games. These wins bring her medal count to well over 100. In addition to tournaments she has played on three spring and fall USTA league teams in the Las Vegas area for the past 20 years. Who is she? From where does she arrive at this point in her life? Let's go back a bit.

USTA Nevada would like to thank all of our Committee Members, Pros, Interns, Volunteers, Ball Persons, and the Las Vegas tennis community for coming out to support the 2012 PowerShares Series Event held at the Mandalay Bay Event Center on Saturday, November 17, 2012. This year's event was a huge success!
It was a day filled with exciting experiences beginning with two Play with the Pros sessions, where local players got to hit and get some pointers from John McEnroe, Michael Chang, Andre Agassi, and Jim Courier. The VIP Player Party kicked off the evening's festivities and gave guests an opportunity to mingle with these legendary tennis stars. Then the crowd was treated to three incredible matches where these former champions battled for the coveted title...which was won in a close final set by our local hero, Andre Agassi. |

Southern Nevada Youth Tennis Foundation (SNYTF) wrapped up an incredible 3 day tennis event for the National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) National Convention at Mandalay Bay Event Center July 7th thru 9th. The Family Expo was free and open to the public. SNYTF Academy kids, board members, and staff provided hundreds of youth daily bi-lingual introduction classes by our pro’s George Cantu, Rich Luong, Scott Schneider, Academy graduate Elvia and SNYTF’s founder, Sandra Rose. |
Kimberly Yee has been the nation’s #1 ranked player in the girls 12's, 14's and 16's age divisions.
Kimberly started playing tennis at the ripe age of 3 years old with her father Adam Yee who went into an early retirement to coach both Kimberly and her brother Kristofer.
