WEEHAWKEN, NJ -May 10, 2010- Tennis legend Andre Agassi and Longines, the official timekeeper and partner of Roland Garros and the French Open, today announced the 2010 recipients of the Longines Elegance Scholarship Fund, awarded to graduates from The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, an affiliate of The Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. Longines created the Elegance Scholarship Fund to promote higher education for students enrolled at Agassi Prep, a public charter school for grades kindergarten to twelfth grade dedicated to transform public education for underserved youth across the country.

Winners of the 2010 Longines Elegance Scholarship include Shaniqa White, Juliandra Jones, Bar-Breea Coffee, Dimitri Amos, and Keyonni Waring. Each student will receive $10,000 to further their education at a College or University of their choice. The scholarship is based on financial need and offered for excellence in community service. For students with an aptitude and interest in watch making, several full scholarships will be available to the Nicolas G. Hayek Watch Making School in Miami.

"Many factors contribute to the success of students in post-secondary education. The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy prepares its students to thrive in their new environments and to excel academically. Despite being equipped with the skills required to succeed, our students struggle to keep up with the rising costs of higher education. Because of the munificent Longines Elegance Scholarships, totaling $50,000, five Agassi Prep undergraduates will enter their freshman year of college and will not need to grapple with the cost of attendance. On behalf of the Class of 2010, I thank Longines for ensuring that another generation of students is college bound" said Lisa Wolpowitz, Director of College Access at Agassi Prep.

Recipients of the 2010 Longines Elegance Scholarship will be attending the follow Universities:

Keyonni Waring - University of San Diego
Juliandra Jones - Penn State University
Bar-Breea Coffee - Bennett College for Women
Dimitri Amos - Undecided
Shaniqa White - Undecided

Agassi Prep exemplifies educational excellence to prepare each student for college and in June 2009 honored its first graduating senior class. For the very first time, graduating students had the privilege to walk across the William J. Hornbuckle III Bridge, symbolizing the pathway to a new beginning and a brighter future for the community's most challenged students. To commemorate this, Longines announced an initial donation of $200,000 for the Longines Elegance Scholarship Fund. Recipients of the 2009 Longines Elegance Scholarship were Larrisha Burrell, La'Mayah Hodges, Kristen Huddleston, Malcolm Rowland, Alexis Wallace and Charvonia Williams. This ongoing fund will help to secure the future for bright and talented students.

Additional Longines Ambassadors of Elegance of Sports include: tennis great and 22-time Grand Slam Champion Stefanie Graf, World Champion skier Aksel Lund Svindal, top equestrian rider Jane Richard, and young tennis stars Agnieszka Radwanska and Tsung-Hua Yang.
